The Role of Principal Leadership in Building Effective Culture in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah

The leadership of a madrasah principal plays a crucial role in shaping an effective madrasah culture. A strong culture fosters the improvement of educational quality, the development of student character, and the motivation of teachers and educational staff. This study aims to analyze the role of the madrasah principal's leadership in building an effective madrasah culture and to identify the strategies employed. This study utilized a qualitative descriptive approach, employing in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis as data collection techniques. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the madrasah principal fulfills the roles of educator, manager, administrator, supervisor, leader, innovator, and motivator in shaping the madrasah culture. The applied leadership style is adaptive and situational. The strategies implemented include: (1) strengthening relationships among the madrasah community, (2) creating a safe and comfortable learning environment, and (3) fostering a conducive learning atmosphere. This study underscores the importance of collaborative and transformative leadership in building an effective madrasah culture to support the enhancement of educational quality.
